Professional repairs for jackets, zippers, technical gear, and more — done right here in the Kootenays by someone who knows what it means to rely on good gear.
Policies & Procedures
Please read carefully.
Assessment and intake
Please have items in clean condition. Shop rate of $55/hour applies to cleaning and prepping items for repair. Heavily scented and/or soiled items will not be accepted.

Before proceeding with a repair I aim to give a Cost/Time estimate.

I'll do my best to assess the repair accurately, and make sure it's doable. However, it is possible that the repair can end up costing and taking a lot more time than anticipated. In this case, I would contact you to let you know and confirm if you wish to go ahead.
Drop off and Pick up
Please contact us:
-
for drop off/pick up locations and hours
-
to arrange to meet in person (Kimberley/Cranbrook)
-
to let me know where/when you will be dropping off and/or picking up
-
for mailed items, to arrange shipping
There are currently two drop off locations in Kimberley, and two in Cranbrook. You are welcome to drop off/pick up 24 hours/7 days a week in Kimberley. Please inquire. Locations may not be secure or supervised.

***Items are left at your own risk. Customer assumes responsibility for items left for repair, up to the act of pick up, including for: loss, damages, theft.***

Shipping & Handling Procedure:
Please note that the customer is responsible for shipping costs plus a $5 handling fee. This fee helps cover the cost of labor associated with the shipping and receiving process. I use Canada Post to ship all customer repairs and provide tracking information. Once your repair is complete, you'll be notified along with the final cost including shipping. After payment is complete, your gear will ship out within 2 business days. Please let me know if you have any specific requests (eg., 'ship most economical way', 'ship to a different address', 'add extra padding')
Custom jobs and modifications
Please contact me to discuss your request and the price/timeline. Photos and measurements are helpful! Deposit of 50% required. Prepayment for special order supplies and materials. Travel is charged at the CRA rate.

I don't work on:
-
gear that needs to meet safety standards for load bearing, strength, performance, etc. such as: climbing, kite boarding and rigging and rescue equipment.
-
bikes or skis (exception is attaching climbing skins)
Limited capacity for hardgoods such as stoves, and large items such as tables, canvas tents, bike and camping trailers, boat covers, paddleboards and folding and inflatable boats. Please inquire.

"Civilian" clothing
Yes, I will patch your jeans and Carhartts, sew on buttons and cool patches, hem your curtains, replace zippers on pouches and purses, reattach pet harnesses, etc. but.....my main focus is on repairing outdoor clothing, equipment and footwear.

I don't typically do alterations, and only minimal hemming (and hawing). Ha ha.
Payment
Payment is taken before, or at, the time of pick up. Currently accepted by cash, or E-transfer to: tech@snowpatchrepairs.com.

Deposits and Prepayment
A deposit or prepayment may be required in certain cases, such as:
-
where the repair job is highly unique or custom
-
estimated to be $300 or more
-
where the repair cost clearly exceeds the cost of the item being repaired (eg., repair for sentimental reasons)
-
for kids gear-this may seem unfair, however, experience has shown that over 50% of requests for repairs on kid's clothing and gear are retracted or abandoned. From a business perspective, this is not very sustainable. Be sure before you repair!
Abandoned gear
Items left for more than two months after the 'ready for pick up' date will be disposed of.
Are the repairs guaranteed?
Unfortunately, no.
However, repairs will be done to the best of the technician's knowledge and ability at the time, with quality, industry standard materials and techniques. If a repair fails prematurely and/or you are really unhappy with it, please get in touch and I will do my best to work with you to find a satisfactory solution and rectify the repair. There are no refunds.
If a repair can't be completed and/or the customer is unsatisfied with the repair:
-
Discuss and agree upon a fair price for the work done up to that point and any further work to be done.
-
There are no refunds.
-
Work already completed will be charged for.
-
Any balance owing on the repair to be paid at, or before, pick up. Any balance owed to you, the customer, paid when the repair is deemed complete and you are happy with it.
Donations
Got spare material or parts? Gear not worth repairing? Alternatively, if you have gear that is not worth repairing, but could be used for parts and/or patch material, you are welcome to donate it to this service. It will help keep other gear going and out of the landfill! Please contact to arrange.
